“will, can you stay after class for a moment?” Mrs. Ramos stops me as I’m leaving at the end of the day. When the other kids are gone, we sit down at a couple of student desks.

“Will, I’ve noticed there seems to be some sort of disagreement going on between you, Emmaline, and Aneesh. The three of you are such good friends.”

I look down at my hands. I’m not sure what to say.

“Maintaining friendships can be tough sometimes. If you’d like to talk to me about what’s going on, maybe I can help.”

My chest tightens. “Thanks Mrs. Ramos. I’m the only one who can fix things.”

She puts a hand on my shoulder. “Making things right with friends can be tough. Let me know if I can help in any way.”
